The new Ms. blogs gives us news that Episcopal Church “has approved ordainment of the first two women to be elected as bishops in the 114-year history of the Los Angeles diocese.” This move to ordain two female bishops, one of whom is a lesbian, offers religious women hope that they will be able to recognize themselves in their church leaders, and pushes the issue of choice into the pulpit. On a personal note, I recall with fondness and gratitude, one of the more effective professors I had the privilege to study under during my studies at Bangor Theological Seminary, who happened to be a lesbian minister! Thank you again, Susan!
